A Little Tent-making

Those of you who have been watching for the last three years know what has happened with our financial support. God has blessed in many ways. We're so blessed to know each of you and to have reconnected with each of you. We do not take lightly the support we have been given in money, time and prayers and believe God desires this ministry to be continually lifted up by your gifts. However, it is becoming apparent that we need to dig in for the long-term. Raising the financial support required for this ministry is proving to be a slow endeavor.

In light of this, I've begun a contracting business to make up for our lack of financial support. Perhaps you know of someone who may be interested in the sort of service. I'm looking at doing desktop/server support as well as strategic web development. Information about this new venture is up at JosiahRitchie.com.

My focus will be in churches where I can build relationships, and still work towards my vision while making the money needed to continue. I want to connect churches and individuals more personally to the missionaries on the field and I'll be able to do that when working with churches. I also would like to connect churches members to other church members in a more personal way, but I have a whole other blog post in my head on this topic.

Partners

God has provided a couple partners who are interested in being a part of this also. My friend Eric runs OpenThought. My sister, Miriam, may be able to help me from time-to-time with artistic design work through her design firm, mdesign.

Jobs

A few potential clients are already lined up. Some of the members of the FIM board were excited about this and have some possible business for me. Their support of this venture has been most encouraging. In fact it was the board who originally suggested it. I've also sent out one quote to a friend for a website he'd like to take to the next level. I appreciate your prayers as these things develop.

Still Passionate

I want to assure you that I'm still passionate about what I'm doing at FIM. I still have a passion to see our missionaries and their supporters become relationally close to one another using the very technologies that cause our culture to draw apart. This new contracting opportunity is simply a supplemental method to make the vision God has given us a reality in the short-term. If you have any concerns or questions please contact me. I really want to know about it. Our support team is still critical to this ministry and should feel free to ask questions about how we are accomplishing the task.

Thanks to Ed for pointing out that the comments were broken among other things. The comment capability has returned and seems to be in good shape. I have a few other related issues that I need to find and fix, but it's looking better. Let me know what else you see.
