5 Kinds of Christians is an article from ChristianityToday that ThinkChristian pointed me to. The 5 types of Christians that emerged were interesting. Of most interest to me was the group called "Private Christians". They are considered the largest and youngest, but are rarely heard from because they are quiet and uninvolved.
These types of people interest me because I feel like I can relate. My main question is, how do we encourage them to come out of their shell and become a part of Christian culture? I think part of it is engaging them respectfully, openly and thoughtfully in discussion. Only about 1/3 of these folks attend church and they typically don't read their Bible. How are they getting fed? How does the church as an organization meet their needs? How do we even find them?
A side note: One of the comments over at ThinkChristian caught my attention and made me think a bit:
These results almost parallel the parable of the soil that Jesus gave about people’s response to the gospel.
