In my latest long-term goal to develop my design-oriented mind, I'm checking out opportunities to stretch myself in the area of colors, balance, and so forth.
This picture was taken as an exercise in color. It took me longer than I thought and I know it is far from perfect, but it was a neat thing to do and was a fun stretch for my brain so I thought I'd share.

If only the colors were a meaningful expression of the content. Even if only for your own subjective taste, it would still be useful. Still, I agree it's aesthetically pleasing in its own right.
I found that CDs from the same publisher were sometimes running the same style. There was a selection of discs that were black with yellow words on the spine. They were from the same genre and music label, but you are right, they are mostly unrelated by color. Before that they were mostly random. At this point, they are mostly in a box with copies on my hard drive. :-)
